The 21 Day Fix is taking the health world by storm. It’s an amazing way to lose weight, get healthy, learn portion control, and revamp your diet.  One complaint I’ve heard over and over again is that it’s just not set up well for those who choose the vegan/vegetarian life style. And it’s true. With the original plan, the only protein options that are compatible with a vegetarian life are:  – eggs – egg whites  – yogurt  – greek yogurt  – Shakeology  –...

I know one of the hardest things about the 21 Day Fix is coming up with a meal plan and sticking to it. I know this from experience! I always say I’ll figure it out as the day goes and it never ends up working out.  So yesterday I sat down and figured out a meal plan for this next week. It’s simple and easy and if I follow it, I know I’ll have a successful week.  If you want to check out the meal plan, click here.  Share Share this:PrintTweetEmailMorePocketShare on Tumblr...

Soooo… I decided to take a shot at the 3 Day Refresh. What is the 3 Day Refresh, you ask? It’s a 3 day gentle cleanse that allows your body to detox without starving. It’s a straightforward program to lose weight, get a clean break from bad nutrition habits and feel immediately cleaner, lighter and more healthy‚Ķwithout starving! I was skeptic about trying it for a few reasons.  It seemed like a “quick fix” and I’m not into those kinds of things.  It SAYS you won’t be hungry...

I have a few challengers that DREAD the weekend. They feel like it just ruins all the progress they’ve made all week. And the truth is, a bad weekend CAN set you back a little bit. I recently heard a pod cast by Chalene Johnson where she talks about how to LOSE weight this weekend so when you step on the scale on Monday, the number is LOWER than it was on Friday. Wouldn’t that be amazing???  I strongly recommend you check out the podcast, but here is a recap of the tips she gives:  So who is ready to lose weight...

I know a LOT of people are doing the 21 Day Fix program. It’s a GREAT program with an emphasis on eating healthy as well as working out. It was designed by Autumn Calabrese, a celebrity fitness trainer and bikini competition competitor. The program uses a container system to help you measure out how much food you should be eating. It teaches clean eating and portion control. It is a nutrition program that you can maintain long term, not just a crash diet. I LOVE how much food I get to eat with this program. Because I’m nursing,...

One of the question I get more than anything else is “Is it safe to workout and eat healthy while I’m nursing?” I know, most people think that just by nursing you can lose all your baby weight. NOT TRUE. At least not for me. I’m not a doctor, so you should for sure consult with one before doing anything but… studies have shown that it is very much safe to workout and eat healthy while nursing. BUT you don’t want to:  – follow a super restrictive calorie diet. In fact, you need an extra...

I have recently decided to become a Beachbody coach. Beachbody is a company that makes exercise DVDs and products that help people to reach their weight loss and healthy lifestyle goals. I have been a Beachbody customer for quite awhile and have contemplated becoming a coach for a long time. I used Beachbody programs to lose weight after I had my second baby. I joined a challenge group and had amazing success. I was able to lose 15 pounds in the first month of my challenge group. As time went on, I kind of forgot about Beachbody,...

Okay friends, everyone knows that January is all about people starting goals to lose weight, right? I have done it a GAZILLION Times, not necessarily just during the new year, but something that has been a little more effective for me, is deciding to change some of my bad habits, into more healthy ones. So, instead of failing for the 90th time on a new diet, I make changes in my diet to be in better shape, and feel better overall! I am not saying that losing weight/dieting is always bad. It just always seems to back fire on me when I...

Hey all! Today marks the first day of the last week of the 100 mile summer challenge. When I first started this challenge, I had ran a total of 15 miles and my fastest mile was about a 12 minute mile. I would go on about a 2 mile run and I would be EXHAUSTED by the time I was done. (don’t get me wrong, 2 miles is a long ways). Now, I can consistently run a 10 minute mile, and I try to go on one run each week that is more than 5 miles. The rest of my runs are between 2 and 3 miles. I have made HUGE improvements. I have to be honest,...

Although summer seems to be pretty much over, we’re not quite done with the 100 mile summer challenge!  Things have been a little crazy here (my little brother just got married! Woohoo!) and I haven’t been able to write a new healthy post for this week, so I thought I’d do a quick recap of all the posts we’ve shared during this summer challenge.  We have shared the following posts: Four tips to help you through the running challenge The best running, walking, biking app… ever Tips to learn to...
