Today I just wanted to share a SUPER simple {and cheap} Project that will keep your toddler busy for hours {okay, maybe not HOURS but at least one hour, for sure}. When our little family first moved to Florida, we moved into a two bedroom apartment. Which was just the right size for our family of three. But moving a one year old across the country when he is used to having tons of cousins and a yard was a hard thing to adjust to. Plus, Florida is HOT. We moved in August which is about as hot as hot can be! So, we were stuck inside a little apartment for WAAAY too long. Needless to say, I needed something my little one year old man could do outside without getting a sunburn. We didn’t have a backyard, just a SUPER small patio, with barely enough room to walk out on. I REALLY wanted to get him a sandbox, but they are kind of expensive sometimes, and HUGE. I just needed something simple, here’s what I came up with.
Run to Walmart {or drive, I suggest driving, sand is heavy 🙂 pick up one $20 plastic underbed storage with a lid. Then head back to the garden department and get about 10, 50 cent sand bags {they have cleaned play sand for sale that is specifically for sandboxes} Take it all home and set it up on your patio. I also suggest getting your husband to bring in the sand for you 🙂
If you are being really adventurous, grab a cheap set of beach toys. 🙂 It was amazing. My little one year old boy would not play with ANYTHING for longer than about 5 minutes, but the sandbox, seriously he would stay out there forever! I hope your kids enjoy this as much as mine!
Oh and if you need some proof, here is a picture of him dancing in the sandbox 🙂
Happy Sanding! 🙂

This is an amazing idea. : )
Thank youu !
Love the pictures of the little one btw. Adorable !
Definitely the way to go! I love the lid part. I hate it when it gets all wet and buggy! Yuck!
What a great idea. I think I'll be using this soon. THanks!
What a great idea! We don't have a ton of space where we live so this will be great for our daughter next summer 🙂
Thanks! I definitely know the feeling! Our apartment was cramped, and no backyard, meant for some creative thinking! Let me know how it goes for you! 🙂
I love the box! Thinking this may be a great project to add to the yard for the grands.
