Toddler Activity: Eggshells

In my quest to come up with some good activities for my almost two year old, I came across an idea from Play, Create, Explore. This activity was easy to prepare and my little guy loved it. It kept him occupied for about 25 minutes, which is house in toddler time. So, what I did was save egg shells from breakfast (we had omelets). I boiled the egg shells and cleaned out the insides afterwords. I’m not sure if boiling was actually necessary, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. I put all the shells into a bowl and stuck him in his high chair. He wasn’t sure what to do at first and started throwing the egg shells in the garbage. I stopped him and showed him that he could crush them in his hands. That kept him occupied for about 10 minutes. Then, I gave him the meat tenderizer. I wish you could have seen his eyes light up when I handed him that bad boy. He spent the next 25 minutes smashing the shells with the tenderizer.

I’ll let the pictures think for themselves.
