Toddler Suspender Tutorial

I have a friend who has the cutest little boy you’ve ever seen. I about died when I saw him wearing suspenders a little while. Ever since then, I have been on the hunt for some toddler suspenders. I found some, but didn’t like the pattern. So, I decided to make my own. It only took about 20 minutes and holy cow, they are stinkin’ cute. So, I thought I’d share the tutorial with you guys!

To make these, you need:
Colorful elastic
4 suspender clips
a sewing machine
coordinating thread

If you can, measure your little guy from the front to the back where the suspenders will go. My little guy was asleep, so I guess that 27 inches would be about right. It ended up being way too big, I had to take off about 5 inches.

Cut your elastic about two inches longer than what you measured. Cut two strips that length.

Sew the suspender clips onto each side of each piece of elastic. Make sure that you fold the elastic under so the raw edge isn’t showing, and make sure the suspender clips are facing the right way.

Overlap the suspenders. They should cross about 2/3 of the way down. (think about how suspenders work) Sew them together so that you see a diamond pattern from the sewing machine. Sorry, it’s kind of hard to explain… See the picture.

That’s it! Put them on your little man and take lots of pictures because seriously, he’s a stud.
