My grandma loves to write. I am pretty sure I inherited my love of writing from her. She has books and books full of things she has written. I have always admired her and her dedication to her passions. She is a mother of 7 and a grandmother of who knows how many. She always has a smile on her face, and food in the oven One of my favorite memories of her is a time when I was at her house and she gave me breakfast in the morning. It was a bowl of cereal topped with a scoop of ice cream. Best breakfast ever. Why not have dessert first...

For Christmas, my husband bought me a juicer. I had been dropping serious hints that I wanted one. I had been losing weight slowly and I wanted to amp it up. I also wanted to eat healthier. I really don’t like raw veggies that much, and I can only drink so many green smoothies, so I figured a juicer would be a good direction to go in. I have used my juicer every day except one since I got it. I love it. I really think that pretty much anyone can benefit from juicing. Here are some things I learned: You don’t have to have the...

A lot of people have asked me about how I lost weight. I suppose I should start at the beginning with this story. When I got married, September of 2009, I was 115 pounds. I am 5 feet, 4 inches tall, so I felt pretty good at 115. Soon after I got married, I gained a little weight. In fact, by the time I got back from my honeymoon, my wedding dress was a little tight. In January of 2010, I came down with an eye infection. After an incorrect diagnosis of pink eye, I was diagnosed with a case of Iritis. Iritis is an infection in your eye....

So this is just a little side dish that I wanted to post up here because it is a special recipe in my house. For one, its one of the only ways I can get my 20 month old to eat carrots. The second reason is that the recipe is one that my husband’s grandmother makes and is a childhood favorite of his. It is really easy and super good. Before I get started, I just thought you guys might like to know that the mouse is still running rampant in my kitchen. He (or she) took the peanut butter off the trap and survived. So, he (or she) lives...

I am setting off to embark on an adventure of cooking. Right now, I am your run of the mill, standard house wife cook. I cook so that my family can eat. I want to do so much more than that. I want to cook so my family can enjoy. I want to cook so my family can be healthy. And I want to do those things without breaking the bank. So, today I start. I made Spinach Manicotti today. I really liked it. However, my husband was not a fan. But, he is pretty picky, especially when it comes to veggies. I had never used manicotti noodles and I have...
