The post Jeddy’s Blend: A Natural Alternative to ADHD Medication and Much More appeared first on A Mouse In My Kitchen.
]]>ADHD is such a hard thing for kids and adults to deal with. It has gotten the stigma of being a label that is just slapped on to kids that are a little harder to control. Many people hear that a child has ADHD and they assume that it must be the parent’s fault or that they had a lazy doctor. And many overwhelmed parents don’t know where to turn, so when their doctor suggests a pill that will fix the situation, they jump at the chance to have a “normal” child. My personal beliefs about ADHD are that it is over diagnosed, but that many children and adults do suffer from the symptoms of it. I believe that there are much, much better alternatives to drugs (in most cases.) I believe that if a child and the parents can learn a few skills, they will be much better off. I also believe that sometimes, a child needs help to focus and calm down. Since I believe that medication is not the best answer, let me share with you what I believe can be a solution to many cases.
Jeddy’s Blend is an essential oil blend that was developed by a lady named Dori O’dell. She came up with the blend out of necessity. She has a son, Jeddy, who has severe ADHD. When he was in the first grade, his principal told his parents that he was being too disruptive in class and that he needed to be on medication. A lot of other kids are on it, he told them. Dori felt that there had to be a better solution. Being an essential oil user already, she did some research on different oils, came up with a blend, and gave it a try. The first day, Jeddy told his mom that “that oil” made him feel better. Within a week, Jeddy’s teachers were noticing a big difference in his behavior. Dori was so convinced that she had found an answer to their problem that she began sharing it with others. And now, I want to share it with you.
Jeddy’s blend is a mix of 12 different oils. The oils are Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Ylang, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Spruce, Rosewood, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, Vetiver, Patchouli, and Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Because this blend already has Franctionated Coconut Oil in it, there is no need to mix it with a carrier oil prior to use. Just apply it liberally to the bottom of feet, including the pads of the toes. Because the feet has some of the biggest pores in the body, it is absorbed quickly into your system that way. A few drops can also be massaged into the back of the neck and on the wrists in the morning and as needed throughout the day.
Jeddy’s blend can also be diffused in a diffuser. Just add three drops to your diffuser and you’re good to go.
Even people without ADHD can benefit from using this blend. There have been many, many testimonials from people who use this blend every day. Some of the things that it has been known to help with are: ADHD, ADD, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep, OCD, Sensory Issues, Autism, Tantrums, Hot Flashes, Mood Swings, Stress, Anxiety in Dogs, Turners Syndrome, and Pain.
Here are a few of my favorite testimonials:
“I use Jeddy’s Blend to help with my own anxiety & focus during school lectures, as well as to help my 15yo brother who has behavioral issues. My anxious dog also gets some on her paws occasionally.”
“I use Jeddy’s on my 4y.o. sensory seeker. Her teachers notice a difference in her behavior when we use it. She had even asked for me to put it at the base of her neck. She is a calmer kiddo with her Jeddy’s on.”
“Love Jeddy’s Blend! I am a nanny and I use it when the kids (and even I) are starting to unravel- the oldest has Asperger’s Syndrome and sometimes gets a little stressed or stuck on things, since we started diffusing Jeddy’s Blend we have had fewer nights up worrying about the “what ifs”. Jeddy’s really has been a godsend for me and the kids I take care of!”
“I love Jeddy’s Blend! I’ve been using it for about a year. For my boys it helps them stay focused. When my youngest has a melt down I rub it into his feet while we talk and it calms him down. For me it’s reduced my hot flashes amazingly:)”
“I recently received my first bottle of Jeddy’s Blend, and now I use it often, a couple times a week at least. I’m bipolar and have ADD & I find it really helps with my anxiety, irritability, and concentration. Sometimes I use it on my feet, other times I use it on my pulse points like perfume. Jeddy’s and Bliss have been my saviors!”
I’m glad you asked. The place to buy Jeddy’s Blend is from Spark Naturals. Spark Naturals is the only oil company I recommend. I am an affiliate for them, which means I do get a small portion of your purchase, but that’s not why I recommend them. I recommend them because they only use the highest quality oils, and they have the lowest prices that I have seen. They don’t do a multi level marketing system like many other oil companies do. There is no monthly fee or club membership or anything like that. Just put in your order. Right now, any order over $100 gets free shipping. And, if you use the coupon code MOUSE, you get 10% off your order.

]]>People with problems such as arthritis, rheumatism, cramps, and tendinitis have been able to find relief using this oil.
Personally, I use this oil mixed in with Camp Wander’s Naked Salve. I made up a jar 4 ounce and put in 15 drops of Amend, 15 drops of Rosemary, and 15 drops of Birch. I use it whenever I have sore muscles. It feels like heaven after a hard workout. For me, it has a cooling effect and lasts for about 20 minutes or so.
One thing about this oil that makes it unique is that it is hard to find a good supply of Birch. Because of that, Spark Natural’s hasn’t been able to guarantee how long they will have Birch essential oil in stock. I strongly recommend you adding this oil to your oil collection.

]]>The post Oil Of The Month: Lavender appeared first on A Mouse In My Kitchen.
]]>For the month of March, the oil is Lavender. Lavender is one of my all time favorite oils. I thought I’d do a little post about Lavender and all it’s awesome benefits.

Lavender has been used for a LONG time. It’s smell is so strong and is immediately calming to those who smell it. It can be used for SO many things. Some of those things are:
Acne
Allergies
Arthritis
Asthma
Balancing Body Systems
Boils
Bronchitis
Bruises
Burns
Carbuncles
Cold Sores
Convulsions
Leg Cramps
Dandruff
Depression
Diaper Rash
Ear Aches
Fainting
Flatulence
Gall Stones
Hair loss
Hay Fever
Headaches
Herpes
Hives
Hysteria
Indigestion
Infection
Influenza
Insect Bites & Bee Stings
Insomnia
Laryngitis
Lower Blood Pressure
Lymphatic System Drainage
Migraines
Menopausal conditions
Mouth abscess
Nausea
Nervous Tension
Phlebitis
PMS
Minimize Scarring
Stress
Stretch Marks
Sunburns
Sunstroke
Tachycardia
Tension
Throat Infection
Thrush
Tuberculosis
Typhoid Fever
Water Retention
Whooping Cough
That is a LONG list. Remember that it won’t work for everybody for all of these things. Everyone’s body chemistry is a little different and everyone will respond to it in a different way. If you are even in doubt about what oil you should use, you are almost always okay using Lavender. I use it all the time.
I used it to make Monster Repellent for my kids and shared a post on that a little while ago. My kids love it when I put a little in their bath water. It is a calming oil to diffuse. One of the times I was most grateful for it is when I had an earache. I put a drop of lavender behind my ear every two or three hours and the pain would immediately go away. It is such a handy oil to have on hand.
One word of caution. If you’re using this oil on your children, just like any other oil, be sure to dilute it. Oils can be so strong and their little bodies don’t need as much as an adult body to get the same results. Just put a drop of the oil in a tablespoon or so of carrier oil and you should see results for your kids. It really doesn’t take much.
Remember that I am NOT a doctor. I do a lot of research and share the information I find with you. If you need to see a doctor GO SEE A DOCTOR.

I am an affiliate for Spark Naturals. That means if you use the code MOUSE, you get 10% off any order your place through Spark Naturals. I have done a LOT of research about their oils and other brands. I am NOT a doctor, and I am NOT an expert in oils. When I first started looking into using oils to help my family get healthier naturally, I had a lot of questions. I’ve found the answer to most of those questions and I thought I’d share some of what I learned with you.
1. It’s important to use high quality essential oils. Some companies add fillers to the oils without really telling you that they are doing that. This can be a big problem if you choose to use the oils internally. The whole idea is to be healthier and put less processed things into your body, not more. If the oil doesn’t have a nutrition label, it’s not safe for internal use. And if it’s not safe for internal use, it’s probably a good idea not to use it on your body at all. I trust Spark Natural’s oils to be safe all around.
2. Many oils can be harmful if not use right. Some oils aren’t supposed to be ingested. Some will burn your skin if you put them on straight. Others should be avoided if you have certain condition (epilepsy, pregnancy, etc.) It’s important to do your research and know how to use an oil before you start experimenting.
3. Everybody reacts differently to oils. One oil or combination that works GREAT for a friend of yours might not work at all for you. You may need more or less oils than your friend, or you may need a different combination. I compare that to the idea that tylenol works great for some people and ibuprofen works better for others. Bodies react differently to different oils. If one regiment doesn’t work for you, try a different one until you figure out what DOES work.
4. It’s usually important to use a carrier oil when you put oils on your skin. A carrier oil is generally a vegetable based oil that helps the oils absorb into your skin better. The essential oil is mixed with carrier oil, then applied to the skin. I usually use fractionated coconut oil. You can also use sweet almond, grape seed, apricot kernel, avocado, evening primrose, jojoba oils. Just like certain essential oils work better for some people, certain carrier oils will work better for some people than others will. Experiment with different oils and see which ones you like the best.
5. It’s not ALWAYS important to use a carrier oil. Sometimes you want to use an essential oil straight with no oil. This is called NEAT application. One example of a time I use oils NEAT is if I burn myself and put lavender right on the burn. Just be careful, because like I said before, some oils can burn your skin. And, some people are more sensitive to the oils than others so be sure to test oils out a little bit before using one a lot.
6. Oils are very versatile. One oil can literally have hundreds of different uses. This is one of my favorite things about oils. If you were to go to the store and buy cough medicine, that cough medicine is just that – cough medicine. However, if I buy Marjoram essential oil, it can be used as cough medicine, a muscle relaxant, arthritis, asthma, regulate blood pressure, colic, cramps, constipation, croup, insomnia, migraines, menstrual problems, muscle spasms, bruises, sprains, and the list goes on. Now I’m not saying that it will do every one of those things 100% or that it will cure all of those problems, but it can help each of those ailments. It will work better for some people than others.
7. Less is more. Using a drop of two of an oil every hour is much better than rubbing in twenty drops all at once.
8. Essential oils work to promote your bodies natural systems. I like to compare modern medicine to an army. If you’re sick and take antibiotics prescribed to you by your doctor, an army is sent in that destroys the bacteria. It’s not your own body doing the work, it’s the components of the pill. Essential oils work by supporting the soldiers you already have in your body. Those guys are often enough to do the work, they just need a little “push” to get going sometimes. Essential oils help your body do what it’s supposed to do.
9. Essential oils are safe for children for the most part. There are some oils that should be used with caution around children. Other oils should be diluted more with a carrier oil than you would for an adult.
10. Essential oils aren’t the answer for everything. They aren’t magic. I am so grateful to live in a world where God has created so many wonderful things for us to take advantage of. I believe that essential oils, which are completely derived from plants that God has placed on the earth, are here for our benefit. However, I also believe that without God, modern medicine wouldn’t be possible. While I believe that oils can help to lessen the need my family has for store bought medicine and doctor visits, I in now way endorse anyone deciding to forgo modern medicine entirely. It is a wonderful thing that can be a great blessing. If you need to see a doctor, SEE A DOCTOR. That being said, essential oils are great and I am always so grateful to have them around.
Are you ready to get started using essential oils? I strongly recommend using the Spark Natural’s brand oils. The oils are made using only high quality plants. The processes used to extract the oils are top of the line. They are cheaper than many competitors for many reasons. One of them being that it is not a multilevel marketing company, so the prices can be lower than oil companies that are. On top of their already low prices, if you use the coupon code MOUSE, you will receive an extra 10% off.
Happy oiling!

]]>This Magic Spray is simple enough to make. I bought a squirt bottle from Spark Naturals and filled in almost all the way full of water, then I added about five drops of lavender essential oil and shook it up.
I shake it every time before I use it. When it’s bedtime, I spray that yummy smelling stuff on the pillows and blankets and where ever there might be monsters all while telling my son that the monster’s don’t like this stuff and they are all going to go away.
And guess what? Most of the time, it works. Like a charm.
I can’t say it’s 100% effective every night, but I do notice a difference when I use it. It calms my kids down and helps them fall asleep faster. It definitely doesn’t take place of the bedtime routine, but it sure helps!
