During this two week cloth diaper event, I am reviewing some of the diapers in my stash to help any future cloth diapering mama’s decide what diapers they want to buy. I received this diaper free for review purposes, but all opinions expressed are my own.
Sunbaby pocket diapers are made in China using fair labor practices. They are a one size diaper meaning they should fit your child from about 7-35 pounds. Sunbaby currently has two sizes of one size diapers, which seems a little silly, but every baby is not made the same. Size one is for skinny babies, and size two is for babies with a little more love to them.
Sunbaby diapers have a little pocket in the back of the diaper where you put the insert in. You can add one, two, or even three inserts to add more absorbency. Stuffing diapers does add one extra step to your routine, but I honestly stuff all my diapers in about ten minutes, then they are ready to go. Not a big deal.
I really have no issues with Sunbaby diapers. They are cheaper, obviously, than my Bumgenius or Gro-Via diaper, and it’s obvious by the feel and how long my daughter can have them on before they are too wet, but they aren’t bad quality at all. They are easy to care for and come it lots and lots of different prints, which is something I really love. Because nothing is cuter than a fluffy bum with flowers on it.
These diapers have hip snaps, which I think is a must. I have a few diapers without hip snaps and they don’t fit well. They do what’s called ‘wing drop’ where the sides start to fall down. So it’s great that these diapers have hip snaps. The inside is made of micro-fleece. You can buy inserts from Sunbaby that are microfiber, bamboo, or blend. The inserts also come in regular or XL sizes.
The diapers have a really big pocket in the back to stuff inserts in. My husband loves these because his hands can actually fit in the pockets.
My favorite thing about these diapers is the price. You can’t buy a single diaper from the website, instead you have to buy them in packs, which is a little annoying, but considering they are coming from China, it probably wouldn’t be worth it for them to ship just one diaper. The company boasts about the fact that for as little as $60 you can cloth diaper your child from birth to potty training. For $63, you get 12 diapers and 12 inserts, which is enough to cloth diaper you child, but I would suggest buying closer to 20ish diapers. For $114, you can buy 24 diapers and 24 inserts, which ends up being $4.75 for each diaper/insert set, which is really not a bad price. Plus $114 for all the diapers you need to cloth diaper is great. Even if you buy the cheapest disposable diapers, you would spend this much in about three months, easily. I would definitely recommend adding these diapers to your stash, or even using them as a main part of your stash.
