A little while ago, after I had my first child, I realized I had a problem. I had important papers in random places and couldn’t ever find them when I need them. I missed some appointments because I didn’t write them down anywhere. I also would be writing and rewriting the same memos because I would lose the ones I had already written. I needed to get organized. I decided to start a home maintenance binder.
What is a home maintenance binder?
A home maintenance binder is one binder that you use to organize your life, really. It can be anything you want it to be. Most home maintenance binders have a calendar of some sort, maybe an address book, lists of important numbers, important papers, some financial planning pages, and more depending on your specific needs. For instance, I am currently working on a blog section for my binder. The blog section is one that I had no need for when I first created this binder, but it is a big part of my life now.
Why should you use a home maintenance binder?
Quite simply, to maintain your home. Your home maintenance binder can help you organize you to-do lists, help you track your goals, save time when looking for important papers, and just make your life all around more simple.
How do I start making a home maintenance binder?
The first thing you need to do is gather a few supplies. Here is what I used to make mine:
- A two inch binder
- a small calculator
- a pen
- a ziploc envelope (pencil pouch type thing)
- page dividers
- sheet protectors
- dry erase markers
How many page dividers and sheet protectors you use is contingent on how many different sections you want in your binder. I use sheet protectors for papers that I can reuse. I just write on the sheet protectors with dry erase markers and wipe them off when I want to reuse the pages.
What’s in this home maintenance binder and how much does it cost?
This home maintenance binder has the following sections
- calendaring section with to do lists and goal sheets
- menu planning section with grocery lists (only available in the digital download)
- finance section
- random section with thoughts I’ve had list, quotes I’ve heard list, bucket list, memorable events sheet, funny things my kids said list, and more
- birthday calendar and address book
- a blogging section
So, how much does it cost you ask? It’s free. That’s right, free. I put a lot of hard work and effort into this, but I want to give it away to you for free. All that I ask is that you like me on Facebook or sign up to Receive Email Updates
Check back on next week for the first download, the calendaring section with to do lists and goal sheets.
