Happy third birthday to my little man! Lately my 3 year old has been REALLY into superheroes-specifically Batman. He got his face painted as Batman and ran around the house singing {Nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu nu BATMAN!} For a week!
It was Amazing. I love him so!
So for his birthday he needed a new hooded towel {his old one got used to help us stop our home from starting on fire…I’ll tell that story a different day}
I had seen some really neat ideas on Pinterest and decided to combine a few to make one for his birthday.
Here is what you need:
1 Large Black or Grey Towel {Adult Size}
1 Matching hand towel
Leftover yellow coordinating fabric or a yellow hand towel
Wonder Under {the adhesive you iron on fabric with before you sew it onto your towel}
{Note: I LOVE to get my towel and TJMaxx and Ross, they always have such soft and good quality towels that last, and they are cheap, which is helpful!}
Here’s what ya do:
I started out using a pattern from Ashley from Make It And Love It,
I followed her tutorial, except I did not do the pleats in the back, skip that step. You would not be able to put a Batman Symbol on the back if you do the pleats. I also did not do the ears, I think it would look super duper cute, I was just running on a small amount of sleep and I needed to go to bed. I also am a beginner sewer so sometimes I take it easy and simplify.
After you get the towel done, move on to the Batman Symbol. I found a template if you would like it here: {Or just search Batman Symbol and find your own 🙂 }
http://causethenitsawkward.blogspot.com/2011/08/girl-with-batman-tattoo.html
Trace the symbol onto your fabric and then stick your fabric to the wonder under and cut out your symbol. Iron onto your towel {follow the directions on the package}. Then sew around the symbol to make sure it stays in place.
Woohoo! You did it! And your little one will be so excited!
I also thought about Making the edges look more like bat wings, I think it looks REALLY cool, but would have used an extra large towel, I think it would have cut too much of my towel away to have made it useful. But! I did find a really good tutorial on that if you would like to try it:

Enjoy!

This is so clever, and it's so easy to do. Great present that I'm sure he loves.

He does!
Love this look for little boys… it's a nice chance from the animal ones, which I love for littler guys, but this is perfect for your school-aged boys!
yeah! The little guy who got this one is actually only three, but he LOVES batman right now! I am a huge fan of the animal ones too, but I agree, it's nice to have a change. Thanks for stopping by!
This hooded batman towel is looking super cute. Best idea for the upcoming Christmas gift you just gave me for my son cheers 🙂
