Are you guys joining in the running challenge with us? It’s a simple running challenge to get you all off your booties and on to the streets, racking up those miles. If you started when I did, you should be at just around 34 miles, not including today’s run.  I have to admit I’ve had a rough time these last few weeks! If it wasn’t for this challenge, I probably wouldn’t have kept running. I’m very grateful for the support system those completing this challenge have given me! If you are trying to...

Three weeks down of the 12 week exercise challenge! How are you all doing? Getting those running muscles built up yet? You should have run 18.5  miles now and you’ll run another 7 this week. You can do it! Because you’re awesome. If I’m not mistaken, sometime this week is when you’ll realize how freeing running can be. I never thought...

Each month, on the first of the month, I try to write a religious/spiritual themed post. The purpose of that is to help my readers (that’s you) understand a little more about who I am and what my beliefs are. There are a few other bloggers of my religion (Mormon) who do this same thing. You can find links to their posts at the bottom of this one. If you’d like to read other religious type posts I’ve written, click here.  I wrote this post on marriage a little while ago, and I was hesitant to post it because of some...

Welcome to week three of the running challenge! If you started when we did, you should have about 11.5 miles down! How cool is that that you’ve started your journey to a healthier you? Nice job! THE STORY BEHIND THE BLOG I (Markell) started this blog on January 15, 2013. I had been thinking about doing it for some time, but finally made the push to just do it. I want to be able to create a recipe book with all my favorite recipes so I don’t have to go through all my other ones to try and remember which ones I liked. My goal right now is to cook 100 things and document them in this blog. I want to mostly cook healthy foods, but I can’t promise all the meals will be that way. I started this journey as a house wife who...

My grandma loves to write. I am pretty sure I inherited my love of writing from her. She has books and books full of things she has written. I have always admired her and her dedication to her passions. She is a mother of 7 and a grandmother of who knows how many. She always has a smile on her face, and food in the oven 🙂 One of my favorite memories of her is a time when I was at her house and she gave me breakfast in the morning. It was a bowl of cereal topped with a scoop of ice cream. Best breakfast ever. Why not have dessert first...
